GoldWing news

Fitment for the 1500 is done and the 1800 will be finished by the end of this week!
We have a small feature in the April issue of WingWorld as well as an ad running for SplitWeight(tm) waterproof seat covers.

  1. I've been getting quite a few calls from 1800 owners about the covers. many ask if the cover slips on or if the seat needs to be removed. The answer is both. I recommend that you remove the seat and secure the cover with the supplied straps. Yes, I know it's a bit of a pain to do but it's the beat way to have your seat covered and most secure. Cover the seat prior to your trip and forget about it-it won't hurt your seat at all. Cover the sheepskin or what have you-no problem. Now-some cleaver riders will do this: they slip the cover on and then run the hook/loop stright down either side of the bike. They attach the seat cover straps to a hook/loop mate they have attached to their bike. Most common attachment points are right behind the rear support for the drivers footrest and on the front of the saddlebag down low. It will be clear when you first put the cover on where these attachments should go. If you choose this method, here is a time tested tip: get some IRC Racers Tape (www.findtape.com) and place this tape on your bike prior to placing the hook/loop on your bike. The idea is that the IRC tsape will provide a protective barrier so that your paint will not get harmed in any way. BTW-I have used the IRC tape for many years-it's expensive but unlike anything else on the market-and works perfect. I'll bet you find many other uses for it-I use the 2" by 12' size. Anyway, by doing this you weill be able to get the cover on and off real quick. After you run through the drill a few times you'll have it down pat.
